Outreachy Internship Wrap-up

Outreachy Internship Wrap-up

How time flies! I can't believe that my outreachy internship has finally come to an end :( What an incredible journey it has been! I'd like to thank my mentors Goutham Pacha Ravi and Victoria Martinez de la Cruz for their guidance and support.

I want to take a minute to review my internship period;

My Project

My Project was OpenStackSDK Implementation for OpenStack Manila (OpenStack Shared File Systems). So far, I have been able to implement 12 resources. Some have been merged while others are still open for review (patches).

Open Source

This Internship has made me more familiar with Open Source and Open Source Communities, and these have greatly encouraged me to continue contributing to Open Source.

Blogging

Part of outreachy Internship tasks is to blog every two weeks. I've always wanted to blog and I guess this is the push I needed.

Weekly Meetings

The weekly meetings with my mentors helped me throughout my internship. The dedications and commitments of my mentors are second to none.

Bug Squash

I participated in OpenStack Manila bug squash and I was able to resolve a bug.

Hackathon

OpenStack Manila hackathon was from Aug 18-20, where we implemented OpenStack Client (OSC) commands for Python-manilaclient. It was so much fun and I implemented OSC command for Availability zones Command.

Grace Hopper Celebration - Open Source Day

I was a mentor at Open Source Day for Grace Hopper Celebration, and that was my first time mentoring for an Open Source project.

Informational Interview

During the final weeks of my internship, I had the pleasure to chat with some OpenStack community members. I gained some insight on how it is to work at Open Source.

Being an intern at OpenStack has been such a great experience. I would like to thank the outreachy organizers for giving me this opportunity.
